JPB CAMP DIRECTOR RETURNS FROM HOLY LAND: Jack Karn's term overseas furthers JPB's mission a

This month, JPB educator and Camp Director, Jack Karn, returns from the Holy Land after nine months of living and working in Jerusalem as part of a partnership with the Young Adult Service Corps program of the Episcopal Church. During his time in Israel/Palestine, Karn led and oversaw the implementation of three high school leadership programs. The participating schools were the Sts. Tarkmanchatz Armenian School, St. George's Anglican School, and the Dar Al-Maarefa School. Each successful in their own right, the programs followed JPB's revised four-year leadership curriculum crafted by renowned peace-builder and founder of the CONTACT program of SIT and the Karuna Center for Peacebuilding. Jack also successfully planted leadership programs in three new schools, scheduled to commence this fall and in 2018.

In addition to furthering JPB's in-school programming, Karn developed key partnerships with organizations and institutions like the Interfaith Encounter Association, QSchools, Debate for Peace, and the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. Through Karn's efforts recruiting teens from high schools and Debate for Peace MUN conferences, JPB is expecting a record number of teens to participate in our Summer Leadership Institutes in the USA over the next two months. In 2018, Jack is planning a return mission to serve in Nazareth.
